We knew it was going to be a good day when the little girl up the street delivered our Girl Scout Cookies! YAY!!! We love cookies!!!!

The other reason was the temperature outside...as you can see from the van thermometer it was a BEAUTY!!! It sure made us happy to feel the warm sunshine on our faces after a LOOOOONG winter. So of course, we went to the zoo!

This was our first visit in 2008 and it was a great day for it. The animals were happy too and very active. It's always fun to go when we get to see them moving around. The kids are posing here by the sea lions. I wish you could hear it...the female on top of the rock was really giving the the giant male in the water a piece of her mind. What a riot.

Tony and Livie LOVE the "Garden of the Senses" at the zoo...they always want to go there, even in March. No flowers, but the bronze statues are always fun to climb on!

Here are the kids inside the "Desert Dome." Tony's most FAVORITE place in the zoo. He's always been a big fan of the desert for some reason. We all groan, but go along anyways. It's hot and stinky, but the reason he loves it so are the cactus and the.....

...meerkats! They are cute little buggers and fun to watch.

Diet and exercise my friend, diet and exercise.

These are my LEAST favorite thing at the zoo...the fish. Or "swimming maggots" as I like to call them. It is my worst nightmare thinking of falling in the water and being eaten alive by these things. There are literally THOUSANDS, and I really hate them. The kids love feeding them and watching me squirm. Ick. There aren't many things I'm squeemish about, but touching raw meat and looking at these fish are two things that make my skin crawl.

Good ol Mr. Sloth. He's usually hard to see, but today he gave us a treat and made an appearance. I couldn't help but capture him on film. Hope all those reading this got to enjoy a little bit of sunshine today too!

Thanks for the great virtual tour of Omaha's most wonderful zoo! I love it there too, don't think you could EVER be bored, right, kids??? Hope you enjoyed your GS cookies, no one came selling to us again, this year...no cookies for Papa!! Love, love, love the music you have playing with your blog today, Livie, please listen to it. Do you think we could play it as a duet if we could find the music??? I'll take the bass, you take the treble.....I know we could do it!!! There's even a little tremolo in there for you, ask your teacher about that! Miss you guys, can hardly wait for Easter!!! Love, gramma Sally
What a great day and thanks for sharing the photos and funny commentary Jo. Can't wait to see you in just a few short weeks! Maybe that will be Celia's first trip to the zoo. I bet she'll be a wild monkey at that place!
