Last night Chris and Tony had a sleepover for Cub Scouts at the Strategic Air Command (SAC) Museum. Here is the website for you Airplane Buffs....
http://www.strategicairandspace.com/ The boys got a tour of the museum which houses an Apollo Space Capsule, WWII Bombers and Fighters as well as an assortment of jets.
Above is a U2 Spy Plane. One like it, piloted by Gary Powers, was shot down by the Soviets during the Cold War. (obviously, Chris is dictating to me as I type.)
The boys are shown here in front of an Air Force sea plane of some sort....Brian?
Shown her is the famous B17, Flying Fortress from WWII. I'm guessing the dads (and a few moms) enjoyed this visit as much, if not more, than the boys!
The boys got to make their own rockets and then they launched them in hangar.

The boys also made balsa planes and got to fly them inside the hangar. Tony's was shot by the time he got home, but it was fun while it lasted!
After all the fun, the boys watched "Night at the Museum" until midnight. The highlight of the night was getting to sleep inside a C-119G Flying Boxcar cargo plane. The bunks were stacked 4 high. Tony's best friend Sam is in the bunk above him. Tony complained his bunk was "bumpy" and he didn't get much sleep. The dads slept on the floor outside the planes, I'm sure they didn't get much sleep either...imagine how all that snoring sounded inside an airplane hangar! The Pack Leader woke them up at 6:45 this morning to get everyone on the road as they were closing I-80 because of the ice storm. The boys made it home safe and sound and have some great memories. Nap time will be soon!

Thanks for the great pictures. Glad you had a blast Tony. It looks like such a fun deal. I would love to tour that museum on one of our trips to your house, you can be our guide. Glad you and your Dad and friends got to spend some Big Boys time together.

i have no idea what that sea plane is, maybe a mallard. the C47 in the first picture is great, and the B17 is a classic, great history. can't wait to hear stories.

What a fantastic opportunity for both Tony and Chris and wonderful pictures! Tony, it looks like you had a great time...will be anxious to hear what your favorite thing was!! Did you get alot of ice?
