Iowa State Fair

Saturday we took a drive to Des Moines for the Iowa State Fair...along with 103,505 other people! Yikes...because school starts so darn early here we had to go opening weekend. The kids wanted to document what we ate....Tony started with onion rings and root beer,
3 corn dogs all together, lemonade, cherry lime ade, apple slushes, many bottles of water,

Philly cheese steak (what a mess!),

chocolate shakes from the dairy barn,

ice cold chocolate milk, cotton candy,

cheese curds, caramel apple slices.....whew! And we were hungry when we got home!

Chris seems an odd name for a Clydesdale Horse don't you think?

We all enjoyed the Quilt Exhibit. This one was the kids favorite. Pretty amazing.

A perfect frame for these two..."Love Nature and the World Around You."

This picture is for Celia. Quite an impressive sight when you are standing right underneath it! Didn't do much to keep us cool though. :)

After walking around for 8 hours in the heat Olivia found a cool spot in the Poultry Barn.

Speaking of Olivia, if she was a chicken this is what she would look like!!!! Check out those legs!

The kids of course LOVED all the baby animals. This little piggy was born early that morning. He was so dang cute, but a little confused at to which side of mama to get his dinner.

We were pretty pooped out by the end of the day so we took a ride on the Sky Glider to get us from one end of the Fair to the other. Since I had the camera you'll have to settle for a picture of our feet! Tony thought this ride was AWESOME and didn't want to get off. Poor kid searched and searched for corn on the cob ALL DAY...we didn't see any until we were up on this ride. You'd think at the Iowa State Fair there would be corn around every corner! (ha ha)

Neither Chris or Olivia enjoy heights. Think they both have their eyes closed? By the way, there is the corn stand with the yellow and green roof. Don't know how we missed it!

You can tell by the look on this face that we had a great day! What you cannot tell from this face is that he has two really loose bottom teeth! He discovered this at the Fair and is PUMPED at the impending loss. Stay tuned....only 3 more days until school starts!

Oh how fun! All that food is making me hungry - especially the cheese curds...yummy! Love the pic of Liv in front of the fan :) Good luck w/the teeth Tony!

PS...Liv, we have the picture you made for Madi on the fridge and she stares at it CONSTANTLY! She even started to grab for it when we have her close to the fridge. Even from across the room she will look around until she spots her picture. She smiles when she sees it! Thank you again :)
