In our school district, when school is cancelled an automated message from the Superintendent calls everyone in the district to let them know. We got the call Monday night at 9 p.m. NO SCHOOL TUESDAY!!!!
This is what we started with Tuesday morning. It got progressively worse as the day went on and they are actually calling this storm a real, live BLIZZARD!
The kids were out for HOURS playing in the snow. They had a blast....
...I love snow days. Nothing like the smell of wet boots and mittens. At 5 o'clock Tuesday we got the call that there was NO SCHOOL Wednesday! Oh happy day...every kids dream...and school district employees.
We ended up with about 10 inches when it was all said and done. This is my back yard this morning. I had to take this picture through the window because I couldn't open the patio door for fear of two tons of snow falling into my kitchen.
There were beautiful sunbursts above our neighbors house, they almost looked like rainbows. That's Chris snowblowing them out. He has the fewest "toys" of all the men in the
cul-
de-sac, but the biggest snow blower!
It's so nice seeing all the guys come out to help each other get their driveways and sidewalks clean.
Says she, who is standing in her warm house, in her bathrobe, holding a cup of coffee.
Tony-bed-head couldn't believe his eyes when he rolled out of bed this morning. This is our 6
th Christmas in Nebraska and I think it's only the 2
nd one where we've had snow.
Oh how happy the little birdies were that we had just filled up our
birdfeeder before the storm hit. All of Omaha have closed schools yet again for tomorrow because severe wind and cold are in store for tomorrow...we are anxiously awaiting the phone to ring.

We had a snow day today too. Wait until they are teens and want to go and hang-out at the mall instead! Hello....there is a reason school is closed. Bad weather! They think my mini-van is an 18 wheeler that can drive through anything! Oh it was so much easier when they were little.

P.S. Yes a snow day also means I am not driving to the video store! Good thing nobody has ever died from being soooo bored!

No snow days for us up here in the northland! We missed out on all the snow, but are expecting -25 temps this weekend. Love the comment about Chris having the biggest snowblower...that's cause he's from MN!!! Glad you enjoyed your 3-day vacation...it'll probably all be melted by Christmas!!!
Nice job Chris. Nothing like the smell of gasoline on a cold winters day while snow blowing. I will have my "machine" ready to go for you during Xmas visit.
