Ah, Fall

Fall has come to Nebraska. As Nelson and I set out for a stroll this crisp, foggy morning, I spotted this glorious spider web. When we got home I ran in to get my camera and snap a picture. Some of the dew had burned off by then. What amazed me the most was that the web was connected to a small tree maybe 10 feet away by a single thread. How did it do that???

I can grow mums here as perennials and my garden is beautiful now with all the fall colors they bring. Every year I plant more and more. It's so nice to have color when everything else has died off for the year.

Last weekend we had beautiful weather. High 70's with not a cloud in the sky. We took the kids on a hike through Neale Woods in Omaha and did some geocaching. Unfortunately my camera battery was dead. Poor planning. Anyways, you'll have to trust that we spied 3 deer and several toads! It was fun walking on the crunchy leaves and searching for perfect acorns to take home. Our woods here are loaded with craggly oak trees and upon a stiff breeze you need to cover your head! We found three caches...the first under a bike bridge near a wildlife refuge (thank goodness Tony was small enough to crawl in and retrieve it), one in the hollow of an old tree overlooking the Missouri River and the third was in an old family cemetery that was founded in 1861 - how cool is that? The best part of geocaching is finding yourself in a place you never would have gone otherwise. Hope you are all enjoying a change of season wherever you may live.
